  I’ve been renting “Angler’s Retreat” repeatedly for many year’s because of the great location within the complex. This Unit has a spacious back deck. However this unit is in need of some repairs and updating. The bathroom needs to be remodeled. I was disappointed in the cleanliness this time. A deep cleaning is needed.

  Angker’s Retreat in the Shipyard Condominium section of Key West’s Truman Annex neighborhood is an ideal base for exploring all the best the Conch Republic has to offer. Only a block to the community pool. Only a few blocks to Duval Street, Old Town, Mallory Square, and the harbor. The unit is comfortable and functional with a compact kitchen and a small bathroom, plus a queen size bed in one bedroom and two twins in the other.A nice front porch and a large, shaded back deck in a prime corner location. A few modernizing touches would make it even more enjoyable, but it’s already pretty special just the way it is.

  We arrived after hours for check in. Had a little confusion on key pick up. Although everyone was home and probably getting ready for bed we called the help line phone number and left a message. Within minutes Stacy called me back and got me straighten out on the key/ code issue. Thank you Stacy for all your assistance we really appreciate your time. After that we had a great time no issues at all.

  This unit was perfect to get everywhere easily. Love Truman Annex. Easy walks to Duvall or Fort Zachery Taylor beach. The back sitting area provided shade and room for everyone, and morning coffee sitting in the sun on the front porch was a great start to the day. Management was very helpful. Only wish was a grill for our fresh fish catch.

  We loved staying at shipyard. We loved being close to everything. My kids loved the pool and splash pad the best.
  We plan on staying at the shipyard again next year, but I do not think I would stay at this rental. If did not seem well maintained and like it hasn’t been used in awhile.
  There were problems with outlets, loose and broken tiles and the landscaping needs tended to. If this apartment was updated we would for sure stay there again

  Nice downstairs end unit, comfortable beds,everything is in good condition. Nice neighbors own the unit next door. Close to pool. Front overlooks parking lot, but back porch is nicely landscaped. Kitchen well stocked with most things, but no coffee mugs or plastic glasses for pool - we contributed one of each!

  Great location! Process of getting and returning keys was inconvenient. Air conditioner was VERY loud and kept us up at night. TV in bedroom broken. Aside from that, we liked it! Nice to have a pool, but more umbrellas would be good.

  Overall this is a nice unit but I would not recommend it to anyone until some maintenance issues are addressed.
  
  1. When we checked into the unit we found ants all over the kitchen which required a trip to the store for bug spray.
  2. The back door to the deck was falling off its hinges which required maintenance to pay a visit and repair it.
  3. There are cracked/loose tiles leading into the back bedroom
  4. The A/C unit, after it runs a few minutes had a terrible knock the required you to shut it down.
  5. The bathtub is extremely slippery to the point that it is a slip/fall hazard, especially for senior citizens.
  6. The need to add a couple of small sauce pans to the inventory.
  We will be selecting a different unit for our next trip.

  The property is in a great location! Close to the pool and a couple blocks from the noise and fun on Duval St. The property could use some cosmetic improvements for sure. The doors leading to the covered deck are in dire need of replacement. Air conditioner and all the appliances worked flawlessly.

  We have stayed multiple times in the Annex and this unit is by far the most tired and run down unit we have ever stayed at. Chipped formica counters, dated furniture, poor lighting, an original tub circa 1970's, tile so poorly cut and grouted it is shameful. Smelled like smoke. This whole unit needs to be nuked. The location is fine, close "enough" to the pool and parking lot is viewed from the unit.

  Condo was perfect size for a family of 4. Needs some updated appliances ( K cup coffee machine) and the beds need to be updated as well. Also under amenities need to include that there is a washer/dryer unit on the premises. I wouldn't of packed so much. Fan on the back porch would be helpful since the outlets don't work for the floor fan the condo had to offer. The positives, perfect location, accessible to everything within walking distance or a short bike ride. Lots of historical sites. Gated and quite area. Felt very safe. Enjoyed our stay.

  The location is great. The shipyard condos at the Truman Annex are only a couple blocks off the main drag (Duval). Super handy because you can walk anywhere in old town Key West. Being that close you think it'd be loud, but you'd be wrong. The area is gated so it has no pedestrian traffic passing through. Lots of airplane traffic though, but you will get that anywhere in Key West.
  
  The location was clean, the kitchen was small but very serviceable. We ate breakfast at the condo every day. The beds were comfortable.
  
  The only detractor was the check-in process. Instead of giving you a pinpoint on a map where the office is, they give you directions that are impossible to follow at night. The street numbers in Truman Annex make no sense, and "building 45" is not helpful. You can't see the fountain at night because the building where the keys were located for pickup was pitch black. I had to use my phone's flashlight to see the combo lock. The parking passes were also kind of a slow process. Seems to me that they could have those filled out in advance since they know you're coming, and just put the car/plate info on it when you pick it up.
