Shipyard Condominiums are located in the prestigious gated community of Truman Annex in Key West’s Old Town neighborhood. The condos are located 2 blocks from Duval Street and many Key West attractions. The properties are also ¼ mile from Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and Beach. The property is outfitted with washer/dryer, pots/pans, towels, linens, have central air conditioning, off street parking, and pool access. This home is a 2 story style townhouse. Pelican’s Perch is a tropical, Caribbean-themed cottage. The kitchen is equipped with Stainless Steel Appliances. Take a three-minute walk to Duval Street for dining and entertainment, a five-minute walk to Sunset Pier, a 10-minute walk to Fort Taylor Beach, a one-minute walk to the Truman Annex pool or, simply stay put and relax. Situated on one of Key West’s most beautiful streets, its front porch is a great place to watch the world go by while rocking in the chairs and viewing parades and Key West's colorful characters:) For those moments when you want to catch some rays, read or dine in peace and quiet, the back porch is one of the largest, quietest and most private in the entire Truman Annex. Surrounded by trees, it overlooks a tropical park, has two lounge chairs and a dining table with room for six. Inside, you can enjoy three flat-screen televisions, wireless internet, brand new tropical Caribbean furnishings and art. When it’s time to cook that fresh catch, Pelican’s Perch features a gas grill, fully-equipped kitchen, and a choice of an indoor or outdoor dining area.   We have been staying here for several years and the property continues to deteriorate. Little work, if any, has been done inside for years. The kitchen is poorly set up with plates, pots, etc, furniture is dated and worn, and the TV setup provides no info on navigating cable. Mattresses and linens are worn out, holes in the bathroom walls and the lack of a dishwasher for most of our stay occurred. Other than the location, there is not much good to say about the place.

  We recently stayed at this unit for two months and were disappointed with the overall condition of the unit. While it was described as updated, any renovations were not just recently done and the wear and tear is very apparent. The sofa is extremely worn, with dirty and stained pillows. The carpeting was also dirty, and the deck chaise lounge was broken. The power recliner was also broken. There were several holes in the drywall. These were all items we found upon arrival. Further, one of the beds was not correctly assembled. The management company addressed these concerns as we became aware of them as the first week went by. It is important to note the master bedroom is, in fact, a loft overlooking the living space. Several major appliances were not working when we arrived. The washer was inoperable and was replaced after a week. The management company did assist us with essential laundry that week. Further, the dishwasher did not work, and after two months, the management company was still waiting for a replacement. While we did not ask for it, we received a small reimbursement for this inconvenience from the management company. The lighting was inadequate in the loft bedroom with just one lamp. There is no overhead lighting. The living room had just one lamp with overhead fan lighting on one end of the room. One of the two bathrooms had a leaking shower door that left the floors soaked after each use. Additionally, the closet shelves and floors were full of extra linens, leaving little storage space for guests. The bed pillows were dirty, and we replaced them the first day. On the positive side, the outdoor deck was lovely, and the location was fantastic. Televisions worked great. However, given the condition of the interior, this rental might be okay for a short stay, but I could not recommend it for a longer visit. A deep cleaning and some real updates and amenities to offer comfort to the guests would make a big difference.

  Pelican's Perch is in a great location, a few blocks to Duval and to the waterfront. It's an easy walk to many attractions and restaurants but when you return you come to a beautiful quiet location.

  We enjoyed our stay at Pelican Perch very much. The location was perfect. The condo accommodated the four of us very well. Although the kitchen was small, it was adequate in that we did no cooking while we were there. The owners supplied plenty of items need for dishwashing and trash, as well as for washing in the washing machine. The back deck and front porch were used daily. There were plenty of bath supplies, as well.
  We did have an issue with hot water and leaks, but the management company corrected it as soon as they possibly could.

  We had a great week. The place was nice, kitchen very small but we were not cooking. The new rugs in living room were a fall risk due to the ends not lying flat on floor, had to be very careful. Upstairs fan did not work. Location is fantastic, we stay in the general area most of our trips to Key West. Pool was very nice, large and close. In general a great experience.

  We travel to KW often and this was our first time renting a unit. Compass was incredible to work with. The location is amazing, just outside of Truman Waterfront/Ft Zach and two blocks from the Green Parrot. We always rent bikes for the duration from WeCycle, and they are just down the street.
  We used Paradise Porters to hold and deliver our luggage before we could check in at 4 and can recommend them.
  It may be good to know that the upstairs primary bedroom is a loft and open to the house. The main floor bedroom is tight, but has a door. Property felt a bit worn, but is a cute standalone house with nice back deck, new grill, close to pool. We had cleanliness issues with the property, but Compass is managing that and was very receptive to feedback (Thank you!). I would not rent this property again, but might try another in TA in the future.

  Had a good number of issues including **** roaches, rotting deck, sink and toilet handles falling off, quite dirty when we arrived, the vaccines cleaner was not working which they replaced for two days and took it back, the front door lock didn’t lock when giggles hard.......... Very disappointing for the money we paid.

  The location was very convenient. Close to the pool, close to Truman Park
  There were a number of little things that need attention which we made Compass aware of. The condition of the deck was the major issue as it was actually a safety issue. However the deck is scheduled to be replaced. The bathroom showers were very nice. The kitchen was too small for us since we like to cook in sometimes. It is basically a one person kitchen. All in all however the unit is nice and comfortable.

  First the good. This rental is located in an area that allows for walking distance to restaurants, stores, activities and Fort Zachary. An additional plus is the deck that allows for sunbathing, eating, and socializing outside. Also, the wifi works and is reliable.
  
  Second the bad. The shower on the first floor is not constructed properly. When you shower, the water pours under the door and goes all over the floor. This is really not safe. Also, the televisions stink especially the one in the main room. You can’t even get regular channels. Additionally, the lock on the front door is misaligned and doesn’t lock completely which made it feel unsafe to leave valuables there when we were out.
  
  Third the ugly. There are mite-like bugs all over in areas that have water meaning they are in both bathroom sinks and all over the kitchen counters. When you kill them, they are back the next day. We put our food on top of items so the bugs wouldn’t get in the food but I’m sure we undoubtedly ate some. They were even crawling on and in the microwave. They are very tiny and difficult to see on the black countertop which makes them hard to kill.

  We stayed in Pelicans Perch for 1 week. The bathrooms with walk-in showers were great. Also enjoyed the deck. Nice outdoor furniture for lounging and eating. We used the 1st floor bedroom. The sheets on the bed were very thin and worn snd should be replaced. The closet needs to be cleaned out so the guests can use the shelf and the floor space. The living room rugs and couch need to be professionally cleaned.

  Our stay at Pelican's Perch was wonderful. The property was clean, bathrooms updated, and ample linens were provided. The kitchen is really small and the dining area was super cramped with a large tables and many chairs, which was difficult to move around, but we made it work. We weren't able to get the TVs to work, and we are pretty techy savvy, but this wasn't the end of the world, although it would have been nice to have listened to music channels, etc... The patio furniture was less than comfortable so we didn't spend much time out there which was disappointing. Two lounge chairs did show up on the patio near the end of our week, which was a nice surprise, but a more comfortable outdoor set up would add so much more to this property. All in all we were satisfied and had a blast! The location is awesome and it had everything we needed! Would recommend this property and we may even return again next year!!!
