SAILOR'S STORY

The Presidents Walk and Southard Court community is located in the Truman Annex Complex which is located 2 blocks from Duval Street and all of the Old Town Key West attractions. The properties are also located less than a half mile from one of the best beaches on the island, Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and Beach. The Presidents Walk properties are two level townhouses which have private courtyards on the first level and balconies on the second level. All properties are outfitted with washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, towels and linens, have central air conditioning, off street parking and pool access.

  This rental was better than previous rentals. The second bedroom is very small and the associated bathroom shower was difficult to stand in. This rental would be acceptable for a week stay. We are disappointed that one week stays may no longer be available. We are not interested in a month rental, so we will be looking for accommodations other than the Truman Annex.

  Couldn't ask for a better central location in Key West! The grounds were beautiful, furnishings comfortable, communications clear & easy to follow. Recommendations would be to move the lock boxes to each specific property, show the picture of the twin beds so it's clearer you have to ask for the changeover. However, it was a delightful week & would definitely stay here again...but longer.

  The condo was lovely. The reservation process was super easy. A few things to note -
  1- the TV setup is extremely complicated. - They need some instructions also someone needs to check the batteries in all the remotes.
  2- The water pressure in the master shower is very slow -
  3-Have the ice maker started before you arrive.
  4- The sheets could be replaced. Looking a bit worn

  Compass was mostly attentive to our needs, but there were a couple of things that didn’t get addressed. Upon our arrival we noticed (as did our family staying nearby) a musty smell as you walked in, not pleasant. We had a shower issue that was addressed after the second email. The home itself was clean and the patio out back gorgeous & private. Construction next door was happening but luckily didn’t dampen our visit that much. Kitchen could do with a little updating but it served our needs. During our stay the pool was full during the day, so we had to resort to going in the evening since it’s small. Which is the case with many properties in key west, as expected.

  Sailor’s Story is clean and nicely appointed with well stocked kitchen essentials and beach towels for the pool. Location is quiet (sans for the remodeling construction next door) and centrally located with easy access to the pool and main gate. Reserved parking spot is covered and just a few steps away from the unit. I recommend replacing the sleeper sofa as it is broken and mattress too thin for the springs. Also recommend listing HOA rules as we were “cited” for a beach towel drying on the front railing

  We took our daughters and spouses and it was perfect for us. The house is beautiful, especially the back outdoor space, which we spent most of our time while there.

  It is a nice, well equiped apartment with a lovely king size bed. For us the steep staircase was a little problem but we are 70+. The railing could be improved (only one side now).The first rental car (a big SUV) didn't fit in the assigned parking.

  The maintenance of the condo could have been better. We have stayed in the Truman annex plenty of times and this one was the worst maintained one so far. The front door lock would not unlock or lock with the key. Had to keep playing with it to get it to work. There were broken shutters and water stains on the ceilings. The over all cleanness of the condo was not great. We had to wipe everything down bc it dusty and the floors were nasty. We had to clean them too. The pull out couch bed mattress was broken down worn out and it felt like you were sleeping on springs and metal.

  Great location and the Truman Annex is a quiet oasis from the hustle and bustle of Duval. The condo has a lot of potential but is needing some maintenance and TLC. There was a water stain on the 1st floor ceiling from a leak from the 2nd floor tub. The AC vents were filled with lint and needed cleaning. Living room sofa was dingy with stains on the high touch surfaces. The walls needed touching up. The tile floor had cracks and stains

  The rental was overall clean and comfortable. Kitchen area was well equipped. There were enough towels for bath and beach. Would like to suggest getting some beach chairs for guests. Bedrooms were a little smaller than we had anticipated. We were two couples and second bedroom was a tad small once converted into king bed. Sofas could need a good deep clean. Very short walk to a great pool. Short walk to park and restaurants. Bike to Beach. Make sure to bring water shoes to beach, lots of coral to walk on. Small issue for a great deep water beach. The neighborhood is beautiful and lush.

  We stayed here before in 2020 and liked it. The unit has a lot going for it-location, nice patio, two baths. The furniture was fairly comfortable, and for TV lovers there is a huge TV--though its difficult to stream as the owners have left their own account info active. Unfortunately, though the regular cleaning staff was thorough, the unit has seen a lot of hard use in the last two years and at a minimum needs a deep cleaning. The sofa and rugs need a good shampooing, etc. Also, the bathrooms are original and show it. The way the kitchen was stocked was odd-lots of some things (like pitchers) but missing other day to day items.

The toilet for the master bedroom needs serious attention. The mattress in the master suite needs to be replaced. The living space is fine but needs some updating.,

  We’ve stayed many times in the Truman Annex. This property was the worst property we’ve stayed in. It needed maintenance as well as updating. The porch rail was rotted, the grout in the bathroom needs to be redone, the beds were too big for the size bedrooms. We were very disappointed because we’ve always been more than satisfied with the properties we’ve rented

  Property condition not nearly what I had expected. Kitchen had paper towel holder detached from wall, not outside lighting on front porch, two of the three toilets were basically not working correctly. If I were the owner, would never have a property that I was presenting to a client like this. Paid $2700

  2 Adults 2 Teenagers. This rental unit is in a great location between Southard and Fleming with the pool directly behind it. The king bed is really comfortable and the secondary room is on the small side. Everything in the unit is nice and updated. The kitchen is loaded with everything you need but the downstairs TV requires a PHD to operate. The back patio is nice to sit and have coffee and we sat out there every morning. We used the pool often and there were plenty of towels. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

  Location, location, perfect secluded retreat. Clean, pretty easy for four to live. Five to ten minute walk to anywhere. On a bike five minutes to anywhere on street bike lanes. Master bedroom with huge bed has private balcony over private Garden of Eden. Second bedroom is small with large closet. Could use a few shelves to put items on such as glasses or books. Bathroom large with tub. Toilets backed up, but plumb came right over.
  
  Very close to the pool--very quiet. Covered parking right out the door. Plantation shutters let the sun in perfect. Huge TV, and TV's in both bedrooms--but you don't need them so much to do. Topic Cinema is a must view. Bike rental a block away. And Oscar, marathon man at Compass took care of any needs quickly. We shall return.

  The Truman Annex is a perfect place to stay, quiet, beautiful vegetation, pools for each chunk of condos so it was never crowded, and only a couple blocks from all the action downtown.
