CONCH HOUSE

Quintessential Grand Key West Estate! The James J. Curtis House c. 1874 was acquired by the Navy in 1903 and the home became The Marine Officers Quarters known as M2.
The Curtis house is the ONLY home in the Truman Annex that exists in its original location. This masterpiece is representative of a late nineteenth century vernacular know as a ''Conch House'', free of gingerbread, simple in its design, shingle roofing, weathered siding with louvered shutters. As it exists today it is one of the finest examples of ''Conch House'' Architecture in Key West.
This lovely four bedroom three and half bath beauty has gorgeous hardwood floors, tall ceilings, incredible millwork and many floor to ceiling French doors, original transoms and tons of natural light.
Entering the front hall beneath the original red glass address sketch above the front door, you are welcomed by the formal dining room and fireplace as well as one of the several living rooms featured throughout this charming home.
As you make your way down the center hall, you are greeted by the spacious eat in kitchen, which also includes a lovely seating area.
Adjacent to the kitchen, relax in the sumptuous media room which opens out to the covered deck and outdoor dining room.
The main living room enjoys more access to the lower wrap around decks and rocking chairs.
The breathtaking two story stairway with gorgeous balustrades and an original newel post, leads you to the second floor.
The primary suite features two beautiful bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a soaking tub, built in closets, a lovely little reading nook and access to the inviting wrap around covered decks. There are two more bedrooms featuring twin beds that can be converted into a king. Both of these bedrooms have access to the wrap around decks complete with a sunning area, white rocking chairs and a quiet covered lounge.
The refreshing pool and patio provide more outdoor enjoyment and privacy during your summer stay and heated during our mild winter season.
The adorable guesthouse is complete with a queen bed, sleeper sofa and private bath and entrance.
There are two off street parking spaces.

  This is our second stay at the Conch House. It's a beautiful, historic home that is very functional as well. We've felt at home both times we stayed. The location couldn't be better. It was an easy walk to all the local sites but still allowed for frequent visits back to use the pool when we got too hot. With multiple generations staying, the flexibility was so welcome. Compass Realty was easy to reach with questions and very accommodating. You won't be disappointed if you choose a stay at the Conch House.

  This historical home was absolutely amazing. Hugh house with high ceilings and amazing wood trim work throughout.. the property was well appointed for privacy and the pool house was great for a couple or small family to give them privacy. Pool was perfect with porches galore with
  old time rockers that were everywhere . Media room made a perfect spot for children to hang and watch TV. Bedrooms were big as were the 4.5 bathrooms. I’ve stayed in many Truman properties but this was by far mine and my families favorite.

  We spent a week here for the Songwriter's Festival. We parked our car and walked everywhere, as the house is located in a great location to enjoy bars and restauarants. We enjoyed sitting on the beautiful porches and our time spent at the house. We would definitely stay here again.

  I can't say enough about this gorgeous home. It was spacious, modern, extremely clean, tastefully deorated with the most comfortable furniture ever. The location can't be beat, hands down. It's safe behind gates at dusk, yet steps from Duval and Mallary Square. The bedrooms were so pretty and all of them opened up to the upstairs veranda. The outside studio was very convenient for a small family as well. People stopped to take pictures of this historic house quite frequently. If you are looking at booking this home, just do it. You won't be disappointed. Management was very accommodating as well. We hope to return back soon!

  The house was huge and in a great location; at the end of Truman Annex but a very short walk to Mallory Square and Duval St. Comfortable beds and couches. Fully functional kitchen full of plates, pans, cups etc. Perfect sized pool. Parking for any size car and golf cart in back. Guest house that can sleep 2-3 people and provide extra privacy/separation while still being close to everyone else. Overall a great place for a larger group in a very nice part of town.
